The Handmade and Creative Hub
The Handmade and Creative Hub is the next stage of my creative journey. I have seen first hand the hardship caused to a range of individuals by our dwindling metal health and support services. I am passionate about improving wellbeing in the community and feel that my creative business can have a positive impact.
Previously a high school and Pupil Referral Unit teacher, I gradually left the profession over the past year, largely due to enduring 10 years of work related stress, I am the proof that creativity is the best way to step away from problems and re-focus on something more positive.
With the Handmade and Creative Hub, my intention is to provide a supportive relaxing environment where we use creativity to nurture self confidence, expand social horizons and foster entrepreneurship. Theprimary activity will be to provide 'Creative Wellbeing' workshops, allowing people to take beginners and intermediate classes in a range of different arts and crafts while having the opportunity to talk or listen to others,
Our secondary activities at the Hub will be centred around entrepreneurship and employability skills. In the future I hope that the Hub will be able to incorporate a small shop and cafe, allowing young people to engage with work
experience and the day to day workings of a small business. Eventually we intend to offer support services to small creative businesses across all age ranges.
I am aware that this is a long term project and that funding a space will not be easy. I will be introducing a new Creative and Wellbeing Directory late in 2019 and the funds from this will contribute to the creation of the Hub and allow me to start introducing activities in one off venues around the county. If you have a community space that could be booked on an ongoing basis please get in touch.
